Version 0.2 is here!


Woohoo! Version 0.2 is here! There's a new shop update, a new button, a special secret and... automatic doors!!


The shop update: I've updated the main pc screen to a threadfin-only screensaver :) also added 2 new weapon upgrades - reload speed and overheat, reworked the missions menu - missions now have separate categories and will be used to unlock things in the shop.

New button: Yes that's right - a brand new button! It's round. It's blue. It feeds fish. I like this one much more than the last :)

Automatic doors: They look cool and don't require you to manually open them. Absolutely essential upgrade.

The special secret: Now about that secret - well there is something hidden somewhere... but I can't tell you any details because it's a secret of course! Good luck trying to find it :P


Now for all the (mostly) boring details. I've made A LOT of changes to the numbers of weapon stats, item costs, alien health, etc. This should make things feel a lot smoother and also a little bit easier... at least during the start of the game ;) . I've also done other small changes such as making the orb-zorber move faster and optimizing almost everything to run smoother. If you want to read more, here's a list of all the major changes and bug fixes added this patch:

Major changes:

- Added a new menu for missions with categories.

- Added some new missions and fixed mission tracking (individual, but not categories). - Missions will be used to unlock items in the shop.

- Added food to the shop (makes fish grow faster).

- Added air pumps to the shop (increases max fish allowed).

- Added two more gun upgrades to the shop (reload speed and overheat).

- Added "bonus" aliens - Very rare but will drop a large amount of money when defeated.

- Added "bomber" aliens - these guys are tough, swim fast and can self destruct making a deadly explosion.

- Updated the boss to spawn in the new bomber aliens - these spawn in waves and can even blow up each other up, making things chaotic :)

- Updated shop menu icons.

- Updated some shop item icons.

- Updated some pc screen backgrounds.

- Updated the door to the hallway. - it now opens automatically and makes a sound :)

- Reworked the alien spawners to be more efficient/optimized.

- Reworked fish ai to be optimized for better performance.

- Alien spawners now have a hidden "chance" system (common, uncommon, rare, very rare).

- Changed the food button slightly - It's now round and blue :)

- Cleaned all of the glass windows a little - fish are now even better to look at!

- Adjusted A LOT of numbers to make gameplay more fluid and give the player more choices when deciding what to buy in the shop.

- Adjusted the display numbers for weapon upgrades to make them easier to read and understand.

- Adjusted some audio volume levels to balance out all sounds and music.

- Big bug fixes, small bug fixes and other misc changes.

- Added a secret...


Major bug fixes:

- Sometimes when leaving a shop, the player can no longer move/some other input is gone.

- Food Button plays sound on game start.

- Coins that spawn too close to the bottom of the tank fall right through the floor.

- selected mission doesn't stay highlighted after closing missions menu.

- when viewing missions for the first time, the wrong mission is highlighted.

- all fish become available on tutorial completion. should only be after completing missions.

- when picking up a coin, when the bg area for "+x coin" expands, so does the "fish alive" area.

- lighting sticks out through walls onto the outside of building, lighting it for no reason.

- "hand" doesn't hold gun properly.

- can't click missions tab again when missions tab already open. (you can now!! :D ).

- some gun upgrades don't turn red when entering shop.

- bomber aliens from boss still spawn coins.

- fish eyes do not fade away, as the body does, when fish dies of starvation. also faces the wrong direction.

- some shop items don't "unlock" until you exit the shop and re-enter

- Green scientist can block main pc and make it unusable.

- Sometimes objective marker for green scientist remains at pc, but he roams instead. (no longer has one lol)

- Green scientist sometimes does not move/roam around after an alien attack or after talking to them.

- Fish sometimes turn green after/during alien attack but they're not actually starving/hungry. (99% sure this is fixed. It's hard to test).

- Sometimes when closing inventory, the player can no longer move/some other input is gone. (99% sure this is fixed. Hard to reproduce bug).


 That's about everything there is this update. Much more exciting things are coming in the near future! :)
